LIVING SEXY IS... Finding Freedom from Judgements
So Jess is CLEARLY a stunner. She is one of the sweetest, most genuine and kind-hearted women I've met. From how we met to the many adventures we've shared since, calling Jessica a friend has been a true honor. In celebration of her journey to the land down under, where she has decided to move to with her beau after a 5-year stint in New York City/ Williamsburg, I asked her to please spend an hour with me so I could attempt to capture her magnificent beauty and chat a bit about what living sexy means to her.

Jessica and I met two years ago in Brooklyn when she was throwing a party in her building's courtyard and I happened to be staring down at it when one of her friends spotted me and invited me to join. A normal person would be semi-mortified, but we're talking about me here, the person who still smiles at strangers in the scary streets of New York City. Two years later, Jess and I have formed a true bond that will surely get even stronger with distance and time.
The reason I asked Jessica to be my first feature in this "Living Sexy" section is because she's an embodiment of a modern-day woman who's going for her dreams and pursuing her dream career. She's pursuing her dream life - and that's sexy.
When I asked her to participate, her girlish charm immediately turned on and said, "Who, meeeee???" That's part of the reason she totally rocks being a sexy woman. We quickly started discussing outfit ideas, location options, etc. but when she showed me this dress, I knew it was the only piece we'd need to make this shoot a spectacular piece of art. Like many of the really cool ensembles Jessica puts together, this one came directly from her mom, making it absolutely perfect for this shoot. Jessica's mom passed away a few years ago, and it always stings when I remember that Jess is missing this huge part of her and yet is STILL able to be the shining light that she is. It simply amazes me. Hence, here we are.
When I asked Jess what it means to her to live a sexy life, she took a few minutes to think about it. She finally said (and this was right after the shoot, as we were walking back to my apartment), "I think it's just letting go of all judgements... judgements toward myself and judgements from others, because once I do that, it's completely freeing."
I couldn't agree more. As I tell many of my clients and friends who ask me to take their picture, my favorite thing to capture is movement, because I always find beauty and freedom in those tiny moments in between the poses. There are pockets of light that lie within judgmental thoughts, so being able to simply let go of them altogether, produces this wonderful feeling of lightness and joy - and THAT is what I look to capture in people.
